The Elect and the Election

Well, the election is over and quite a number of people, including myself, are shocked. I was shocked because I did not see it coming. I had my high hopes that this country would make at least a little progress towards avoiding inevitable financial disaster. I could not fathom anyone with such poor leadership skills getting elected for a second term; however, I am not going to list all the sins of President Obama and his political machine. I want to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are living in a very divided country that will most likely become a Socialist Democracy if we are not there already. The spirit of anti-christ is alive and well, and it too, has been here a long time, but it is growing stronger every day. So, my question is this: Can God work through the Body of Christ in a Socialist Democracy? Will this shift to Socialism in our Nation thwart the Gospel of Jesus Christ from spreading?  The answer is "Of course not." One would only have to look at the thriving underground Church in Communist China to realize we have great days ahead of us as God's Ambassadors in a dark world. God has given us Eternal Life and America is not our Home; our citizenship is in Heaven. We are blessed to have lived in a country where God is able to not only meet our needs but provide for many of our wants as well. We get to upgrade our phones, root for our favorite football team while eating lots of good stuff, and sleep in air conditioned or heated homes(depending on where you live). However, God did not leave us in this sin-cursed world in these sin-cursed bodies to get fat, dumb and happy. He left us here to be Light and Salt to a dark world, and the major mark that will show the light is loving others like Christ. Jesus said that the world would know we are His disciples if we have love for one another. (John 13:35) Yes, we must love one another, and yes beloved, you who call yourself Republicans must love our brothers and sisters who call themselves Democrats and you Democrats must love your Republican brothers and sisters. We have to get about the business of loving one another right now. We will not do it by identifying ourselves with either party; they seem as lost as a goose in a snowstorm. We will love each other when we see ourselves as we truly are. Who are we? We are in Christ and Christ is not a Right Winged Conservative, nor is He a Left Wing Liberal. Romans 6:10 says of Jesus Christ, "The death Jesus died, He died to sin once for all, the the life He lives He lives to God." Verse 11 gives us our New Identity and to this we must cling if we are to fulfill our mission. "In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus."  In the same way Jesus is alive to God in unbroken fellowship, so are we. In the same way Jesus is separate from sin, so are we. We are a New Creation in Christ. We have been crucified with Christ, buried with Him and raised with Him. Our spirit is alive in God, Who is Spirit, and it is from this Position that we have the amazing potential to love one another.  This is where we must begin; morality will not be legislated in this Nation because our laws have become a license for sin in many ways. We can not count on our leaders to show us the way because they have lost their way. Jesus is the Way, and we are in Him; thus, loving one another is the way to shine the light in a dark place. As we suffer through the changes of our once great country, the "suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character; and character HOPE. And hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." (Romans 5) I believe hard times are ahead if there is no repentance in Washington; however, God tells us that in this suffering, He is shaping and molding us; we persevere when we see ourselves as God sees us as mentioned above. In the suffering, He is conforming us to the image of Christ; we no longer depend on ourselves or any man; we learn to trust God completely, and this work of God in our hearts produces HOPE, and this hope enables us to love others in the Power of the Holy Spirit. We are not losers; we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us. We are God's Elect and we can't lose."(Romans 8:33,37) With great joy and anticipation of what God can do as we humble ourselves before Him depending and counting on what He has done for us what we could not do for ourselves, let us begin loving one another.
